Marblehead captures Bourque 1A Championship over Billerica

Marblehead 8 had a balanced attack all night and wore out the short bench of Billerica as they captured the Bourque 1A championship 5-1

Marblehead had 5 different players score to go along with their solid goaltending. Tom Koopmen opened the scoring at 8:47 of the first period to give Marblehead a 1-0 lead. Billerica struck back fast as Shane Comminsky fired a hard shot by Harrison Young to knot the score at 1. Dean fader scored with 1 minute left in the first period to give Marblehead a 2-1 lead. The second period went scoreless as both goaltenders displayed outstanding goaltending to keep the game in reach for both teams. The third period was owned by Marblehead. Colby Shepard scored at the 5:37 mark, Eric powers hit the back of the net at 4:41, and Brendan Piccinna scored the final goal with 57 seconds remaining to give Marblehead a 5-1 victory and the Bourque 1A division Championship.

Austin Prep Defeats Medford 2 for O'Reilly East 1A Championship

Austin Prep captures O'Reilly 1A Crown

Austin Prep, Led by Patrick Doyles hat trick, powered Austin Prep to 9-5 victory to capture the O'Reilly East 1A Championship.

Austin Prep struck first as Griffen lit the lamp twice in a 2 minute stand of the first period. Medford struck as well and tied the score on goals by Matt Mcdonald and Joe Viennaen at the 4:10 mark of the first period. Doyle and Nadeau of Austin Prep scored 2 of goals with less than a minute left in the first period to give the cougars a 4-2 lead.

Austin Prep continued to press Medford and tallied goals by Doyle, Nadeau, and Harding to take a commanding 7-2 lead. Medford would not go away and began the 3rd period with 3 unanswered goals. Bernie McGovern, scored at 11:47, Matt McDonald at 9:34, and Paul Aoward at 7:27 to bring Medford with 2. Austin then turned the heat back on and ripped three straight goals in 3 minutes. Doyle, Nadeau, and Centrella scored and put the game out of reach as Austin Prep wins the O'Reilly East 1A division Championship.

N Andover beats Reading in OT for Neely 1B Divison Championship

N Andover 6 defeated Reading 6 in on OT 3-2 to capture the Neely Division 1B Championship. Both teams skated to a 0-0 tie until midway through the second period when Cole Julius of N Andover fired a hard low shot past Reading goaltender Matt Scherber to give N Andover the lead 1-0. N Andover struck again at 2:37 left in the second period as Tyler Rodgers, set up by Ryan Dell'orfano and Alex Martino, slammed home a rebound to give N Andover a commanding 2-0 lead.

Reading regrouped, and came out storming the North Andover net. At 5:12 of the third period Reading 6's Dan Garofoli on an assist from Peter Casciani, brought Reading within 1 goal with 2:13 seconds left in the 3rd period, Garofoli broke in on, 2 NHL like passes from Casciani and Liam Byrne to tie the score and send the Reading bench into hysteria. The final 2 minutes of play was up and down and both goaltenders were spectacular as this game was headed into overtime.

N Andover took to OT faceoff and drove down the left side as Dell'orfano and Martino sent 2 blistering shots at Scherber. A mad scramble in front of the net pushed the puck onto Tyler Rodgers stick and he put the game winner into the net and a Championship title for N Andover.

Londonderry scores 2 goals in last 50 seconds to stun Salem

Londonderry, down by a goal with 1:09 left in the game, needed a miracle to overcome a very tight defensive minded Salem team if they had any hopes of taking home the Buyck East Championship. The Hockey Gods looked down onto the ice at the Brooks School and granted Londonderry that miracle. Down by a goal with less than 1:30 left in the game, Londonderry called time out and tried to figure out what could be done to get the puck to the net for any opportunity to tie this game up. Londonderry got their miracle, with 1:09 left in regulation time Jason Parker struck gold and lifted a hard wrist shot by Salem Goaltender Leboeuf to tie the score at 4-4. Londonderry's bench went wild and John Gray of Salem called time out to settle his team down. He could feel the momentum swing at such a rapid pace that he knew he had to get his team to overtime. Londonderry had a different feeling, they knew they had pressed Salem and a championship was in reach. The puck was dropped with less than 1 minute to play. Londonderry moved in from there own zone and beat one of Salem’s defensemen down the right side. Londonderry shot the puck towards the net and after 2 rebounds, Mike Donlan, managed to find the puck and send it into the net with .36 seconds left on the clock. Londonderry had taken the lead for the first time in the game. Salem pressed but failed to score as Londonderry captured the Buyck East Division Championship.

Tewksbury beats Andover to win Neely Division Crown

Tewksbury 6 and Andover 6 had split the regular season contests, and both teams new this game was going to be a nail biter from the start. Andover 6 started the game with a flurry. Tewksbury held on for dear life as Stone made save after save. Tewksbury settled down and began to play their game. The score at the end of the first period was 0-0, and the game still was there for the taking. Tewksbury struck first as Gorman beat an Andover defense men at center ice and broke in alone to slide the puck past Adam Wright to take a 1-0 lead. This lead would hold up until mid way thru the 3rd period, when Gorman would add his 2nd goal of the night and give Tewksbury a commanding 2 goal lead. Tewksbury would survive a late 3rd period surge by Andover and take the neely division Championship by a score of 2-0.

Methuen 2 outskates Burlington for O'Reilly East Championship

Methuen 2 beats burlington for O'Reilly East Championship

Joe Auterio scored 2 goals and added an assist to help lead his Methuen 2 to the O'Reilly East Division Championship. Sean Regan and Auterio hooked up to score with 3:02 left in the second period to give Methuen a 1-0 lead. Burlington clawed back as Trevor Murdock got the equalizer with less than .21 seconds in the second period. This would set up a wild 3rd period as both teams new they were only 12 minutes from capturing the championship. The score stayed tied until the 5 minute mark of the 3rd period, when Auterio grabbed the puck off the left side boards and moved around the Burlington defense and fired a low shot by Ford, the Burlington goalie, to take a 2-1 lead. Burlington pressed and pressed but Christian Mazzone made 2 spectacular saves off the right side of the crease to keep Methuen on top. Burlington pulled their goalie, but lost the puck at center ice and Methuen’s Ryan Tierney put it into the open net to seal the Championship. Methuen would add one more goal by Auterio as Burlington tried anything to tie the game up.

Dracut upsets Masco 7 to win Buyck West Championship

Dracut upsets Masco for Buyck West Crown

Little did Goalies Jon Anderson, Masco, and Patrick Carney, Dracut, realize what pressure this game was going to bring as both teams were deadlocked midway into the third period. Throughout the whole regular season both Masco and Dracut traded top spots in the standings only to see Masco take the #1 seed with 2 weeks to go in the regular season. This game had it all, hustle, determination, intensity, and the will to win a championship. Dracut struck early as John Raikos fired a wrist shot past Anderson at 1 minute into the early part of the game. The Masco struck with 3:55 left in the first period. Cody Hess blasted a shot from the point that beat Carney on the short side. Dracut quickly answered the next shift a Raikos put his second goal into the net and Dracut held a 2-1 advantage after 1 period of play. Masco continued to pressure Dracut and backed them into the zone with a strong fore check. It paid off, at the 6 minute mark of the second period Colin Casey struck for the equalizer and Masco had tied the game 2-2 at the end of 2 periods of play. Dracut came out on fire in the third period and caught Masco in a line change as Payne Bourgeois ripped a shot from the left side to give Dracut a 3-2 lead. Masco would not give up and Mike Major found Jack Adams streaking down the left side and he put it past Carney to tie the game at 3. Masco and Dracut pressed for the go ahead goal but both goalies were at their best. Dracut then broke out past the hard fore check of Masco and created a n odd man rush. Bourgeois broke around the Masco defense and slid the game winner past Anderson as Dracut went on to upset #1 seed Masco 4-3 for the Buyck west Championship.

Westford 7 defeats Wilmington for O'Reilly West Championship

Westford 7 Captures O'Reilly Championship

Westford Jr. Ghosts captured their second championship in as many years as they defeated Wilmington 5-0. Westford jumped out to a quick 3 goal lead and never looked back. Matt Bunyon scored with an assist to Peter Conway to give Westford a 1-0 lead. Dillon Hayes then scored 2 goals 2 minutes apart and Westford was out to a 3-0 lead. Westford added another goal by Peter Conway midway through the 2nd period and put it on cruise control the rest of the way. The final Westford goal was scored by Andrew Gounaris and Westford went on to capture the O'Reilly West crown by a score of 5-0.

Nashua scores with .36 left to capture Esposito Championship

Gary Storace and Steven Saucier combined with .36 seconds in the game to lift Nashua to a 3-2 victory over #1 seeded Triton. Nashua struck first as Sean Holmes scored at the 9:16 mark of the first period. Triton had many chances in the second period but were shutout by some outstanding goaltending by Doire Daltan and Alex Lake. Devin Shumen was equally tested and shut down 2 power plays and a 2 man down situation which kept Triton in the game. Triton struck quick in 3rd period as Jack Norton scored an unassisted goal at 10:20 of the third period. Nashua regained the lead on a fluke bounce that allowed Jake Lathem to break in on the Triton Goaltender and give Nashua a 2-1 lead. It did not take long for Triton to tie the game as John Seward on an assist from Josh Janvrin tied the game up at 2-2. Nashua went on the Power play with 1:45 left in the game. Nashua Peppered Triton for almost 1:20 seconds before Storace's heroic goal with .36 seconds to give Nashua the lead and the Esposito Division Championship.

Lynnfield captures Bourque Division Championship

Lynnfield defeats N Reading for Bourque division crown

Lynnfield, led by John Festa's 4 goal game, soundly defeated N Reading 7-2. Festa struck twice in the first period to give Lynnfield a 2-0 lead. Joe Lemieux beat Lynnfield goalie Josh Allen to bring N Reading within 1 goal. Festa would not be denied as he hit slammed home a rebound and Lynnfield never looked back. Dave Distola beat Brian Lee late in the second period twice to give Lynnfield a commanding 5-1 lead.  Owen Reilly connected early in the 3rd period to bring N Reading within 4, but Lynnfield and Festa would not be denied as they scored 2 unanswered goals to seal the Victory and the Bourque championship.
