TSR HOCKEY WEEKLY MSDHL ROUNDUP - WEEK #1

THE MSDHL REGULAR SEASON BEGAN LAST WEEK WITH 74 TEAMS IN ACTION. MANY OF THE TEAMS RECORDED THEIR FIRST WINS WHILE THE DEFENDING CHAMPIONS BEGAN THE DEFENSE OF THEIR CROWNS:

ORR – In Orr Division play Peabody nipped Wilmington 3-2, Newburyport Shot out Stoneham 1 6-0 behind Shane Eiserman’s 2G and 1A and the strong goaltending of Alex Buckley. Andover beat Melrose to capture its first win 2-0. Manchester scored its first MSDHL win by defeating Reading 3-1, And N Reading ca me back from a 4-1 deficit to tie the defending Orr Division Champions 5-5.

 

BOURQUE – Danvers opened it’s season with a 6-3 win over Chelmsford, Acton Boxboro got their first win by drubbing Reading 2 9-2, Masco outscored Timberlane in the 3rd period 3-0 to coast to a 6-1 win. N Andover beat an undermanned Methuen squad 7-1. Groton scored with 2 minutes to go and went on to defeat the Jr. Astro's 4-3. Westford 1 continued its improvement by holding on to defeat Lynnfield 3-2, and Haverhill 1, led by Tom Morgan’s 3 goals and 2 assists, went on to defeat Tewksbury  5-3. Brad Robbins of Nashua scored 2 goals and assisted on 1 other as Nashua beat Billerica 4-3.

 

BUYCK – Dracut and The Lynn Rockets skated to a 5-5 tie. Mark Azarian scored 3 goals and assisted on another to lead Salem 1 to a 4-2 win over Westford 2. Danny Moynihan scored 2 goals in the first and 3 more in the third to lead Windham to 8-3 win over N. Reading. Connor Macdonald recorded his first MSDHL shutout as he led MV Generals to a 6-0 win over Chelmsford 2. Jack Wilkie and Joey Comeau scored 4 goals and Peter Fanikos had 2 assists to lead Andover 2 to a 9-0 win over Londonderry. Pentucket recorded their first win in MSDHL action by shutting out Hudson NH 9-0.

 

O’REILLY – Timberlane started out right where they left off last year by defeating Billerica 2 5-3. Woburn 2 got the win over a gritty N Andover club 2-0. Haverhill 2 beat up on the Lynn Rockets 2 11-2. Stoneham 2 held on to defeat Amherst NH 6-3. Nashua 2 got by Wilmington 2 by a score of 3-1. Groton led by the hard play of Danny Baldino shut out Reading 11-0. Masco game up with a win over a tough Peabody team 4-1. Masco was led by the steady goaltending of Mitch Nekroski, and Anthony Selvitela to preserve the win. Marblehead shut out Methuen 3-0.

 

NEELY - Nashua 2 beat Wilmington, 3 to 1 Gary Storace gets 2 goals and 2 asst, Alkim Dato gets 1 goal and an asst and, Danny Lablanc had 2 asst. and Travis Howard played well in the goal for Nashua. Masco 3, led by Jake Giacchino’s 2 goals and 2 assists combined with the Shutout by Masco goaltender John Anderson, went on to post their first win of the season over Haverhill 3 11-0. N Reading slipped by Lynnfield 5-3, Parziale had 3 assists in the losing cause for Lynnfield. Tewksbury 2 out skated Westford 6-1. Tewksbury was paced by the hat trick from Ryan Petty. Salem 2 came out a winner by scoring late in the 3rd period to hold onto a 4-2 win over Windham 2. Andover Gold put a sound defeat to the hands of the Cougars 9-0. Andover Blue beat up on Chelmsford 3 by a score of 6-2.
